History
Imago began in 1992 with Rachel Brodsky and Kirstine Oh overhauling Lakeside’s previous literary magazine, Honings. The two envisioned “a creative arts assembly and writing groups in which authors exchange and critique each other’s work” as well as “a creative arts magazine which would publish the products resulting from the umbrella.” Thirty years later, we continue Brodsky and Oh’s legacy of community through the arts — and of throwing everything out to start over again.
As Lakesiders came back to campus in 2021, Imago came back in a new way — under the Tatler umbrella. Sharing staff, connections, and technical know-how, the two student publications boosted their creative outputs and their connections to the community. Through their partnership, Tatler and Imago sought to unite student arts communities and found new relationships in doing so.
Now, the magazine has grown to producing three quarterly print and digital issues, including printed copies for students, staff, and alumni. The publication manages 15 editors, designers, and advisors in a year-round operation that involves fellow campus organizations, faculty, administration, and you. With generous support from the head of school and its wonderful advisors current, unofficial, and emeritus, Imago moves into a new era of community, unity, and love of art.
